Edinburgh - Melbourne MQG Mini Quilt Swap 2015

Now that my swap partner has received her mini, I can show it off here and once again - admire!! :-)

Sooo, back in summer we, the Edinburgh Modern Quilt Guild, decided to organise a swap with another modern quilt guild. I volunteered to  contact the guilds to see who wants to swap with us! And we were very lucky when the Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild rep Maryjane responded to say they would be very keen! How exciting!!! 

When I asked Eleri Stephens, my swap partner from Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild, if she likes Liberty fabrics (we agreed between our guilds to use the fabrics from the UK and Australian designers respectively!), she gave me a challenge to create a modern quilt with traditional Liberty! Well, I think the combination has worked beautifully. :) 

Even more! I mistakenly cut twice as many pieces of fabrics than needed - which means I will make a copy of this very quilt and keep in for myself! :-)))) So, watch this space! :) xx

These are the pics of the quilt before I washed and dried it - and to me, it means unfinished yet! As I love those crinkles after washing! :)

ESME Block - in Liberty style!

Возвращаюсь в русло лоскутков и стежки...вроде) 

Увидела этот блок в декабрьском выпуске журнала Love of Patchwork & Quilting. Это относительно новый журнал и уже очень популярный - все-таки современное лоскутное шитье занимает свое место под солнцем и уверенно! :))

А это блок месяца - я влюбилась с первого взгляда! Сразу же нырнула в свои ткани - выбрать что-то необыкновенное! Потому что больше одного блока я все равно не сошью, а оскомину сбить хочется)) 

В итоге оторавала от сердца кусочек ткани Либерти :-))) Но она тут просто сияет! Времени ушло - два вечера. Техника - шитье по бумаге для заморозки.

Скорее всего добавлю еще белой каймы и выстрочу с линейками и прочими премудростями на лонгарме.

This is Block of the Month from the December issue of Love Patchwork & Quilting. Very striking pattern and very quick to make using freezer paper piecing method. 

Liberty fabric looks awesome here!

My plan is to add a white border and to quilt it on my longarm machine with lots of ruler work. :)

Modern Vintage - Challenge Quilt

Закончила небольшой квилт в компании с другими лонгарм квилтерами на  ФБ. Красиво получился. Долго думала над дизайном, в итоге взяла за основу дизайны Cyndy Needham из ее книги Wholecloth Linen Quilts, добавила свои и получилось очень даже. Использую этот дизайн и в будущем. 
Условием участия было использование ткани Radiance фирмы Роберт Кауфман. Это хлопковая ткань с добавлением шелка - стегать на ней одно удовольствие. У меня получился такой себе винтажный налет. 
Теперь можно вернуться к одеялкам)))

With my fellow long-arm quilters from FB, I have taken part in a quilt challenge, when we would make a mini wholecloth quilt using famous Radiance fabric by Robert Kaufman. The challenge was announced by Lisa Calle, a very talented quilter from the US. 

I've picked a dark gold colour and used gold YLI silk to quilt it - and it worked beautifully, as the golden thread virtually shines through the puffed bits of the quilt. 

Added some sparkly stones :) Couldn't help it)) and they do sparkle very nicely :-)) 

Cute little pouch

Вообще-то я шью сейчас одно большое одеялко. Но опять увидела в блоге у Тани очередную сумочку - в моем исполнении, косметичку) - и потеряла покой и сон! За один день и справилась, а чего тянуть? Получилась такая прелесть, что сил нет - буду складывать в нее членские взносы в моей лоскутной гильдии. Я же там казначей - и это будет мой сейф! ))) Уже представила, как в следующий раз прихожу на нашу сходку с такой вещицей :) 

Ткани опять взяла Liberty - они просто созданы для таких милых безделушек)

To be clear, I am actually making a big quilt at the moment but when I saw this pretty pouch on Tanya's blog, I could not wait to start making this little cute pouch! Will be using it for keeping the membership fee from the quilt guild where I am also a treasurer :) 

I used Liberty fabrics for both outside and inside of the pouch - they suit best for cute little things like this one :)

Blue Diamonds Quilt

Наконец настал тот час, когда я пришла в свой собственный блог. И не с пустыми руками! 
Давно я запала на коллекцию тканей Spa, фирмы Мода. Почему Spa, не имею понятия - очень принты похожи на старинные плитки. 
Все рисунки один лучше другого! Сочетание белого с синим в таких изысканных мотивах - отдых глазам! :) 
Идея сделать квилт с... ромбами? Английское название 'Diamonds' намного приятнее девичьему слуху))) и глазу))) и вообще. :)  

At last I have reached my own blog and this time with something new and something blue :)) I got an inspiration for this quilt from a collection of Moda fabrics - Spa. The intricate fabric designs remind me old tiles - so beautiful, you can look at each of them forever!
Well, it was a pretty quick decision to make diamons - blue diamonds, as I called them. To say that I am happy with the result would be a big underestimation. I love, love, love it!!! :)))

Mirror Ball Dots - Michael Miller fabrics

Ах, какие красивые ткани! Улыбаюсь от предвкушения - сошью из них необыкновенный квилт! Какой, пока не придумала. :) 

Ткани из коллекции Mirror Ball Dots фирмы Michael Miller. Для кружочков использован металлик всех цветов радуги - глаз не оторвать, все блестит и переливается! 

Beautiful fabrics from Michael Miller collection Mirror Ball Dots.

They used metallic paint for the dots - soooo sparkly! I am going to  make some amazing quilt from these fabrics - cannot wait to start! :)
